Traditional Dutch hutspot with smoked sausage. It is one of the four different dishes we have that are from the Stamppot category. A stampot is the collective name for the following dishes: Stampot Zuurkool, Hutspot, Boerenkool Stampot, and Stampot rauwe andijvie. The base of this dish is a hearty mashed potatoes mixed with backed bacon bits, served with a smoked farmers sausage. Then depending on which version you are making, the recipe diverts a the vegetables used. There is a ton on vegetables used to make this dish and it is the perfect comfort food during the colder days of the year, although most Dutch people start craving this dish before the autumn even started. This particular one is made with carrots and onions, and has that savory with a hint of sweet in it.
